Greetings From the Fair Board!
Welcome to the 117th edition of the Roseau County Fair. The fair continues to grow and improve with each year. As a board, we believe our fair is one of the best county fairs in the state!
We have a full line-up planned for the grandstand, starting with Church Night at the fair on Sunday July 21st, which will be a concert with contemporary Christian artist Jason Gray, put on by the Roseau Area Ministerial Association. Tuesday Night will feature the Northern Pullers Tractor Pull. The tractor pull will have multiple classes including farm, improved and super classes of vintage tractors with weight classes from 3,500 lbs. to 9,500 lbs. Wednesday Night is the always the crowd pleasing Wojo’s Rodeo with a full rodeo. Thursday is the ninth year of Bush Car Races that keeps growing in both drivers and spectators. Friday is the fan favorite, Demolition Derby.
Free entertainment will feature the Mega Jump show, this group is based in the twin cities that connects every audience with an energetic, jaw-dropping motivational experience. The show features X-games riders doing many different jumps on bikes and has been a featured half time show at Minnesota Vikings games. We have also booked the Fisherman, Dan’s Off the Hook comedy stunt show. Both of these acts will be north of the soybean play area. Strolling the grounds will be Doc’s Magic Variety Show who will be doing balloon art while mixing in a little magic The Kids Power Wheels Derby will have qualifying rounds on Wednesday and Thursday with finals before the Demolition Derby in front of the grandstand. Returning to the fair after a couple years off is Xtreme Ball, which will be located just south of the midway.
Our maintenance supervisor, Jim Mack and his assistant Avery Eidsmoe, have been busy making improvements across the grounds. With 25 buildings on the fairgrounds, it takes a lot of time just to keep up on all maintenance on these different buildings. One major project that should be done by the start of 2024 fair is the paving the lot west of the grandstand where quite a few vendors park food stands. We are also repaving the walkways from the mini stage shelter to the American legion bingo stand. We believe this will be a major improvement for those with strollers or wheel chairs.
The fair board has adopted the following policy on pets:
With the exception of service animals or animals approved as part of an exhibition, pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds during the Roseau County Fair.
This policy was adopted to lessen problems with barking dogs near the livestock exhibits. This policy is consistent with other county fairs and the Minnesota state fair. Be aware service animals are only dogs or mini horses that are trained to do a specific task for a person with a disability. Service animals are not emotional support animals of any type.
The Fair board is proud of the events we have orgnaized for the 2024 fair and we will continue to present the best fair possible for Roseau County residents. Hope to see you all at the fair!
Remember, make fair week, vacation week!
